What is Building Green?
Building green is a lifestyle choice that can help you save money, live a more healthier and comfortable life, while at the same time preserving the environment in which we live. It means being conscientious with energy conservation for now and future generations. Typically a green home can be 20-30% more energy efficient than a non-green home which can result in lower utility bills. It is not an “all or nothing” proposition. There are many levels of green building. Better energy efficiency provides long term savings for the homeowner.
Mark and Diane recognize the importance of green building and earned their “Certified Green Professional” (CGP) designation from the National Association of Home Builders. As a CGP, we collaborate with our clients to find ways to be environmentally friendly with their custom home. Each project – property, health of trees and vegetation on it, city and community ordinances, home plan, home features, etc. – is different. No two plans are alike. Our goal is to help each client make environmentally friendly choices while thoughtfully considering the unique factors of their custom homebuilding project. Ultimately our client makes the final decision for any green feature installed in their custom home, decides on what clearing is done, and approves the landscaping to fit their wants, needs, and goals. Having this designation is another example of the emphasis Action Builders places on furthering their education by earning designations, attending classes, reading trade magazines, and attending trade shows. Action Builders is a committed leader in Green Building.
Mark incorporates numerous high-performance, eco-friendly features in custom homes including: Tankless water heaters, Closed-cell and open-cell spray foam insulation, Tech Shield radiant barrier roof decking, Conditioned crawl spaces and attics, Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), Geothermal HVAC systems, and Water recovery systems. Mark is ready to integrate any additional green technologies or products clients desire—working within their budget—to maximize long-term cost savings, energy efficiency, and environmental benefits. When you think “green,” think Action Builders!
